About the event
Join the award-winning ORA Singers, conducted by Suzi Digby OBE, in one of Mayfair's most historic and elegant buildings, Grosvenor Chapel, for a new programme centred around Promises. The concert will feature one of our most significant commissions yet, a collaboration between acclaimed composer Paul Mealor LVO and fellow Welshman and poet, Grahame Davies CVO, taking the Hippocratic Oath as inspiration to create a powerful new poem and musical setting, In primum non nocere. Having been catapulted to international acclaim following the premiere of Paul's motet, Ubi caritas, at the Royal Wedding of William and Catherine in 2011, he has become a regular favourite of the Royals - composing works for HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, three of the four national services of thanksgiving for the life of the late Queen, three works for the 'Scottish Coronation' in July 2023, and the Coronation Kyrie performed by Sir Bryn Terfel at the Coronation of King Charles III in May 2023. Paul has a particular love of large scale choral compositions, so with the backing of ORA's 18-strong ensemble this is sure to be a cultural highlight of 2024.
